Policy Statement

Özkaya KHS is committed to fostering a culture of fairness, respect, and inclusion. We actively promote equal opportunities in all aspects of school life for students, staff, and visitors. We oppose all forms of unlawful and unfair discrimination and aim to ensure that every individual feels valued, respected, and able to achieve their full potential.

Purpose

The purpose of this policy is to:

  • Promote a working and learning environment free from discrimination, harassment, and victimization.
  • Ensure that all decisions regarding employment, admissions, curriculum, and student support are made fairly and equitably.
  • Meet the legal obligations set out by the Turkish Constitution, Labor Law No. 4857, KVKK (Personal Data Protection Law), and align with international education standards.

Complaints and Grievance Procedures

  • Any concerns regarding breaches of this policy should be reported to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) or Head of School.
  • All complaints will be treated seriously and investigated in accordance with Özkaya KHS’s grievance procedures.
  • The school will take corrective action where necessary and provide support for affected individuals.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Leadership Team: Ensure the policy is implemented and updated; set an example through inclusive leadership.
  • HR Department: Monitor fair recruitment, promotion, and salary practices.
  • Teaching Staff: Promote inclusive practices in the classroom and challenge any form of discrimination.
  • All Staff: Uphold the values of the policy and report concerns appropriately.

Staff Training

  • All staff receive induction training that includes awareness of equal opportunities, diversity, and safeguarding.
  • Regular refresher sessions and workshops are provided to reinforce good practice and respond to emerging needs.

Policy Review

This policy will be reviewed annually or when changes in Turkish or international regulations require it. The review process will include consultation with staff, parents, and where appropriate, students.
